FAIRFIELD —
Restaurant connoisseur Rocky Gregoire didn’t have to go far
to experience a good, wholesome meal.
The
Golden Dragon, Lindenwald Ledger’s second part of its
restaurant review series, brought sweet and sour chicken to
him.
“We’re
one of the only Chinese restaurants (in the area) that
actually delivers,” said Lisa Bonavita, the Dragon’s
delivery girl and phone receptionist.
The
Golden Dragon, located on Winton Road in Fairfield, serves
up nothing but its own stuff. Everything is made by hand —
from its rice to wantons to dumplings. Bonavita said the
owner begins preparing the fixings at 8 a.m. every morning.
“This is
good stuff,” Gregoire said after taking a bite of fried
rice. “It even has broccoli in it. You don’t see that very
often.”
After
gaining new ownership this past July, the Golden Dragon is
known more for its carry-out service. However, there are a
few tables available for those who choose to dine in.
The
busiest hours are the same as any other restaurant — during
lunchtime. Some weekend nights bring in some business as
well.
“We get
a lot of calls during the weekends because of partiers,”
Bonavita said. “That’s why we stay open so late compared to
other Chinese restaurants.”
Hours
of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to
10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and
Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. |
