Hamilton —
The Miami University Hamilton men’s basketball
team forced 21 turnovers in Saturday’s season-opening 77-62
victory over Ohio University Chillicothe.
The Harriers (1-0) used defensive pressure in
the second half to give the hosts a 25-point margin that
Chillicothe couldn’t overcome.
“Our pressure defense is going to win us lots
of games,” MUH coach Brad Zellner said. “We had trouble
tonight putting OUC away. The guys just have to realize that
we need to maintain the pressure for 40 minutes. We need to
continue to play hard to put teams away.”
The Harriers’ leading scorers were Bob Gurr
(16 points), Tom Campbell (15), Dusty Carroll (13) and
La’Tuan Williams (10).
MUH converted 22-of-27 free throws in a game
that saw 48 fouls.
“We have to learn how to play based on how
the officials are calling the game,” Zellner said. “We had
four starters in foul trouble in the first half.”
The Harriers travel to U.C. Clermont on
