What would Google do?

By Eric Judd

Everyone seems to have some project or teaching lesson that involves all 50 states; ESPN does its 50 States in 50 Days, children’s musical textbooks in elementary school incorporate songs to teach the students every state, and the Lindenwald Ledger brings you its own collection of the Information Nation one fiftieth at a time…strictly from online sources.

What Would Google Do? combines Senior Writer Eric Judd’s mindless browsings of the Internet into an entertaining and informational look at the last 220 years of independence.

If you want to know how I decide which website to highlight, simply type the name of a state into that little Google window at the top of your screen and click on the 42nd link that pops up as a result.  The Web’s leading search engine lists all of the state departments first, so the reason for the late link pick is to filter out the bureaucratic jargon that can be found in any encyclopedia and bring you something different that you may not find.

Every week will highlight a different state and a different website, but it will always be the 42nd link, allowing for some different looks into the past, present and future.

Enjoy what comes over the next year and feel free to e-mail me at with any suggestions or feedback.
